Hamas quiere que el mundo crea que lanzó sus cohetes contra ciudades y pueblos israelíes en un intento de «poner fin al asedio.» Nada podría estar más lejos de la verdad.

No hay un «asedio» israelí en la Franja de Gaza. En primer lugar, Gaza tiene fronteras, no sólo con Israel, sino con Egipto también. Hay 13 kilometros (8 millas) de frontera entre Gaza y Egipto. Ese país, y no Israel, controla el paso de Rafah en Gaza que ha sido utilizado principalmente por personas que viajan desde y hacia Egipto, y de allí al resto del mundo.

Lo más importante, en los últimos cuatro años se ha permitido ingresar bienes para  Gaza desde Israel, a excepción de armas y una breve lista de productos de doble uso que podrían ser aprovechados por los terroristas. Si Hamas se preocupara por el bienestar de los civiles en Gaza, no habría iniciado las hostilidades actuales con sus ataques con cohetes.
